Alpha 3.8 Roadmap seems extremely optimistic given it is the end of year patch and the amount of major features (MicroTech, Carrack, Hull-C, New Babbage, Salvage, Mag Boots, Zero-G Push & Pull, etc.).
(Update Feb 10th 2019): The end of year patches (Q4) are generally much lighter than other patches and tend to get things pushed into the following year. Planets and celestial objects seem to also still be "on schedule". While the ship pipeline has seen only small changes the features and gameplay have received big delays with the appearance of but a few new features.

As the last major patch of the year it is looking unlikely that Salvage will be testable in 2021. Update 25 September 2021: It seems Alpha 3.15 will have some pretty interesting changes to how the game will play and therefore marks a significant patch. This patch is estimated for release end of September 2021. New potential date for the following now seems to be at least 2020.ĭisclaimer: All dates are for our own speculation and enjoyment, provided for entertainment value only. Update April 2019: It seems that Q3 2019 will not have the following features meaning that the estimate was short.We provided no orginal estimate for 3.4 and therefore the content of our estimate still remarkably applies for 4.0 instead. The new 3.4 patch planned in the roadmap does not contain the features required to class it as 4.0. Therefore our original estimates provided a year ago remain the same, except our estimate should be labelled for 4.0 instead of the original 3.4 terminology. Our estimation is that features to do with travel between systems will define 4.0 and will come in late 2019. The main difference being that 4.0 originally encompassed concepts of traveling between star systems. Update 13th February 2018, on the Roadmap we have 3.4 instead of 4.0. It looks like 5.0 could be the next possible major patch to include them. Update 31st August 2019:: 4.0 has been added to the RSI Roadmap and still does not feature the original 3.4 major features such as Traveling to Multiple Star Systems, Science and Research or Exploration & Discovery.
